Preparing a trip with a baby requires good organisation to ensure your child's comfort and safety while minimising stress for yourself.

First and foremost, you can explain the trip to your child: let him know in advance, explain what's going to happen; he'll accept it more calmly! If you can, try to plan your journey during your child's nap time.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your family trip!

. In your hand luggage, pack enough nappies to avoid unforeseen events, wipes, a change of clothes and one or more feeding bottles.

. For food, don't forget bottled water for bottles, powdered milk, baby food or snacks.

. Bring a few toys or familiar objects to keep him occupied and comfort him.

. Include everyday medicines, such as paracetamol, a thermometer, diaper rash cream, etc.

. Pack several changes of clothes for you and your baby, in case of spit-up or other incidents. Don't forget a few blankets to cover him if necessary, or to use as a changing surface.

For the journey, use a car seat for your child that complies with the European safety standard. According to the regulations, a car seat in the car is compulsory for your child up to the age of 10 years !

. Check that the harness or belt on your baby car seat is correctly fitted; it is possible that your child's shoulder could easily fall out of the harness.

. Don't forget to tighten your baby's car seat belt properly: an insufficiently tight or twisted harness or belt means that your child may not be properly restrained in the event of a collision.

. Plan frequent stops every two hours with a 15-minute break. It's important for children to relax and stretch their legs. A host of services are available at motorway service areas, so the whole family can relax!

Once you're there, use a lightweight, easily foldable pushchair. A baby carrier can also be very practical. You'll find stroller, baby carriers and baby car seats for hire on our FAMILIB.COM website.

Travelling with a baby requires careful planning and preparation, but it can create unforgettable memories for the whole family. If you prepare well, you'll be able to make the most of your trip with your child.

Enjoy your trip!
